Skype For Linux 1.4 Gold (The Panacea) is Out

I found out today that Skype 1.4 Linux, The Panacea has been released. According to the Skype share, name Panacea was chosen because Panacea is a goddess of cures in Greek mythology. May be it will help to cure some of the ills on Linux version of the popular VoIP IP Telephony application.
I have had hard time with Skype on Linux and have been looking for solutions like RTX phone, IPEVO phone. Now since I have downloaded, I will try it on my Fedora machine.

According to the same post on Skype blog, Skype for Linux 1.4 delivers a superior voice call quality in comparison with previous production release of Skype for Linux 1.3. But also misses some of the stuff like * Contact List Groups, * Auto-away when idle are yet to be implemented.

But is complemented with features like call forwarding, and a “Birthday Alert” service that notifies you when anyone in your Contact list has a birthday.

Skype recommends that everyone to upgrade to the latest version. Anyone interested could Download it right now.
