Will T-Mobile bring on a VoIP Tsunami?
T-Mobile with it's European roots seems to be bringing some of it's practices to United States. While it has limitations in certain ways such as spectrum agreements, it is finding innovative ways to provide services to it's customers.
Andy Abramson, one of my favorite bloggers wrote extensively about T-Mobile's plans of testing a new hot spot new home device that will embed up to two SIM cards and give you home and mobile number service via the router over VoIP. When you leave the house, your mobile phone is still your number.
I leave you to read his excellent reading about this whole issue as it is very interesting and positive news for communication arena.
But where is the Tsunami? Ha, the last comment by Rich Tehrani on the same news item, made me think;
What if Verizon, Sprint and AT&T sees the potential capabilities in this method to fight their mutual competitors, Cable companies? Yes with upcoming Spectrum sales and open service requirements, we might start to see VoIP Hotspots, wireless hotspots, and hotspots with VoIP!. And that is a Tsunami I do not mind swiming in.
