image from Smashing Magazine
How To Build your first iPhone App,
Smashing Magazine has a very nice article for people who still have no clue or have a clue but do not know how to go about building an iPhone App and make it a very successful one.
The article takes you through from getting started tips like;
  • join the Apple iPhone Developer Program ($99)
  • get iPhone or iPod Touch
  • get an Intel-based Mac computer with Mac OS X 10.5.5,
  • prepare a Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • download and install the latest version of the iPhone SDK if you don’t already have it.
  • a spiral bound notebook
to the details. The post goes on to tell you about getting your project off the ground. It also tells you the values of Skills assessment, Market research, Apple iPhone GUI, design, programming to finally submitting your app to to App Store.
Great read even if you are not a iPhone developer because you might become one or pick up some ideas. I picked up a great idea, the sketching up of the app.
"Create at least one thumbnail page of your application per screen. Experiment with various navigational schemes, the text you put on buttons, and how screens connect and transfer your sketches into digital format"
Great. Now I can leave the office telling I am off to the park to sketch my next design!
Smashing.
