The famous (Limited) unlimited data plans used by carriers is again used by Verizon to lure some customers with their iPhone, when it is released in February.
Verizon COO Lowell McAdam, has told WSJ; "I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot,” by not offering the unlimited data plan. Only to change his words later Tuesday to say that the unlimited data plan is temporary and they too will switch to tiered plan, just like AT&T.
I guess, the offer will stay until iPhone 5 (iPhone 4G) comes out to get some customers over from AT&T who are still on unlimited plans, that they initially signed into when they got the iPhones.
I will see if AT&T will allow me to carry unlimited data for $30 with the 4G iPhone and then I will decide whether to switch, perhaps to Sprint 4G or T-Mobile 4G because Verizon and AT&T are basically the same!

Even with so many people waiting to ride the Verizon iPhone wagon, according to Daniel Lyons, author of "Options: The Secret Life of Steve Jobs.".
His analysis is pretty simple, Google's Android, the ever improving mobile device operating system provides diversity to the masses, much more and ever than Steve Jobs and his iPhone could do. According to Lyon, if Steve Jobs had made to iPhone offer on Verizon, say a year ago, would have proved a big trouble for Google and Android.
"The iPhone, in contrast, is a bit like the situation people once had with Henry Ford's Model T, where you could have any color you wanted, as long as it was black. With the iPhone you can have whatever Steve Jobs says you can have." say Lyons.
I too have an iPhone but I know, it will be replaced by an Android based phone or a tablet, pretty soon. The value of iPhone has dwindled so much that it is just a phone for texting and calling (more like can you hear me now?) Thanks to AT&T, just like Lyon, I too dislike both, iPhone and AT&T.

I was reading an article on Bloomberg on the Verizon iPhone that everyone is expecting to be announced today. It is sometimes laughable how narrow the thinking of pundits.
First line I noticed in article was "Google Inc. may lose business as Verizon Wireless starts selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone," well even I know that unlike Apple, Google does not sell Android phones per se. And all the software that makes money for Google, runs on iPhone too, even the Google Voice iPhone is now approved by Apple.
Yes if Android comes tot he market dominance, Google stand to gain but not by selling phones. Even a few of us who are Android fans, not planing on getting Google's own Android Phone, Nexus S, we are eying better faster ones to spend our money on. It is the mobile search and advertising that makes money for Google.
As I just said, I just registered my iPhone and other Apple stuff at Apple Support Profile site, and we also know that just by Verizon getting the iPhone, will not be a death ringer for AT&T. There are too many factors that riding on these companies and phones to make "iPhone wins and everything else fails" predictions like;
“A lot of people who bought Android phones were buying it in lieu of an iPhone because they couldn’t get one on the Verizon network,” said Charlie Wolf, a Needham & Co. analyst in New York.AT&T will loose new customers and some customers at the end of the contract (most will think twice about giving up "Unlimited Data" in those contracts.

Might not be the death ringer but losing $6 Billion (Analyst prediction) or 10% of income is a big issue for AT&T. It had enough time but AT&T spent it's time scratching something than fixing the connectivity and network issues.I have not been happy with AT&T service at all for my iPhone(s), which we pay a hefty sum, each month. One reason that we switched from Sprint to AT&T was because we wanted iPhone experience.
The dissatisfaction with AT&T is not a remote issue, there are many people who are unhappy with AT&T, according to a recent Consumer Reports survey, 58,000 ranked AT&T to be the worst wireless carrier. I for one will go to Verizon, if I am to stay with iPhone. AT&T even hiked the early termination fee (more like an early termination scheme,) to $325 from $175, perhaps hoping to curb the flow. Well, I will still be leaving AT&T. AT&T still fail to see that people value, a good service and are willing to pay for it.
I am also wondering if Apple will add an "G" to the Verizon iPhone, making it iPhone 4G! That will throw all the analysts numbers regarding AT&T's loss out of the window, that the industry is now predicting. It will be fun to watch how Verizon will advertise "Girly iPhones".
