Palm WebOS 1.2.1 Fixes iTunes Issues And Exchange Email.

Palm WebOS 1.2.1 Fixes Email And iTunes Issues.
snapvoip.blogspot.com

Palm Pre WebOS has got an upgrade making iTunes 9.0.1 media sync possible. According to the release information;
  • Resolves an issue preventing media sync from working with latest version of iTunes (9.0.1).
  • Media sync now synchronizes photo albums, maintaining the album structure in the Photos app.
  • Media sync now allows for synchronizing photos without requiring the full-resolution originals. This provides faster display of high-quality full-screen images and enables users to store more photos on the phone.

Oh yes, it also fixes the issues with Exchange email some users were experiencing, media streming issues and security issues experienced by Webkit developers.

Palm Pre Gets An On Screen Keyboard

Palm Pre On Screen Keyboard
Palm Pre has a nice keyboard but people always wants more. So they have been asking for a on screen keyboard like any other self respecting smart phone.
The problem is that it already has an on screen keyboard even though it might not have the charactors you want. On any Palm Pre, press the "sym" key and a scrollable 5x5 keyboard pops up full of alternate characters.
So some people with need at webOS Internals have modified this to give you an on screen keyboard for Palm Pre.
It is in very early stages of development but provides a keyboard in landscape and portrait mode. So if you are adventure minded, you can check out the proof of concept.
Hope palm gets the message and publish a proper on screen keyboard.

TechCrunchs Arrington Drops iPhone And Pickup Palm Pre!

TechCrunch drops iPhone for Palm Pre

I was wondering when is this going to happen and if the cost and inconvenience is not a factor, I think many would follow Arrington.
I absolutely love Google Voice and thanks to my multiple phones and accounts, I am using Google Voice, on all my phones.
Apple, I will jailbreak if I have to, because it is my phone, I paid good money making your financial statements, both Apple and AT&T look great in this hard times, and I want Google Voice or any other apps that does not break law on my phone. I am not looking to blow cell towers, I want to make my life easier and depend less on you to run it.
EFF free your phone initiative, here is the food for your case, Apple and AT&T wringing users necks with their profits and monopolistic practices keep poping up. Unlike Apples lame mass destruction argument, (which I have given Snap VoIP, tag because it is so unique) you can have a good argument just with this Google Voice Gaga. How Apple and AT&T uses it's high handedness to stifle users and developers. Yes Google is big yet it is a developer for iPhone. If not for Google Voice, this may have not come to light. How many other developers get rejected under the radar just because it is not ringing along with AT&T and Apple.
Arrington, good move! Jailbreak the bloody phone with Ultrasn0w and let us know how to run Google Voice On Jailbroken iPhones. Tell us more about Palm Pre as well.
And Apple, if you continue to do this, you might end up with iPhone 3Gi, your hands will be free, to scratch what ever you scratch when you think.

Palm Pre Mojo Development kit Leaked!

Palm Mojo SDK
Looks like you do not have to apply and wait for the Palm Pre Mojo Development kit, which is actually named early access Palm Mojo software development kit. It makes you even smile (smirk) when you read at Palm site;
"Only a select few partners received the initial release of the Mojo SDK. Now we’re expanding access to it, which could mean access for you. If you’re interested in participating, complete the application at the link below. Not everyone will receive the Mojo SDK right away. But when you do, you’ll see how easy it is to develop for the Palm webOS™ platform"
Alright developers (all of you) get to work! I need apps for my Palm Pre!
Oh Preinsiders has the scoop and download links

Palm Pre Does Things The iPhone Can't, Sprint

Palm Pre Bites iPhone!
Sprint is trying to tale bite or bytes out of Apple and iPhone with the new ad or what appears to be a new ad. More like Sprint bit sour grapes.
"You can have a mighty fancy phone, but it’s only as good as the network it uses and the calling plans available to consumers. Look past the iHype and we think you’ll see a new Sprint with a strong network, appealing new phones and value-priced calling plans. We’ll keep striving to get even better, but we sure hope folks – especially those with contracts elsewhere expiring soon – will give Sprint a look."

T-Mobile myTouch 3G (T-Mobile G2, HTC Magice etc) Coming Soon

T-Mobile myTouch G3
I read at WSJ via Gizmodo that details about Android powered follow up to T-Mobile G1 will be released as early as next week.
Either by design or our creative capabilities, the phone, now known as T-Mobile myTouch G3, was also known and released as HTC Magic by Vodaphone. But we always liked the name Android G2, perhaps due to our alliance to Androids.
One way or another, we are going to have a hot phone summer, T-Mobile myTouch G3, iPhone 3Gs, Palm Pre and BlackBerry Tour.

Total Palm Pre Review

Palm Pre Review
Engadget has done a marvelous job of reviewing the Palm Pre. The uber long review is so lengthy, they are presenting it in three sections, actually four if you count the post I am directing you to.
Joshua Topolsky, has done a very thorough job of going through the inards of Pre, including in depth looks at all of the Pre’s built-in applications. The memory limitations of Pre does not seem to be solved by WebOS and background tasking.
Opening a PDF of 3.9MB seem to send Pre into convultions, basically it froze the phone and giving a memory. It was also asking reviewer to close apps.
Joshua likes the web browser enough to give praise for speed and the UI, and says it’s slightly faster than the iPhone 3G’s. I am yet to check.
All in all, I will have a pre, soon. Because the phone seem to bring about some state of the art mobile features.
Enjoy Joshua's review. It is one of the best I have seen in a while.

Palm Pre Unboxed, Video!

Palm Pre Unboxed
An excited bunch of people unboxing a Palm Pre! Yep looks like they still waste a lot of packing material!

Update, got the following info from a YT comment;
mobileburn (5 hours ago)
Folks, this was done at CES 2009 (hence the January 13 upload date). The device turned on instantly because it had been in use all day and probably had just been stuffed into the box to make an unboxing video. This was shot in Palm's lounge at the Las Vegas Convention Center. We've seen the box before, we've seen the phone before. This is just somebody thinking to stuff it in the box for a second to get an "unboxing" video.

Palm Pre Gets A Wireless Charger

Palm Pre
Looking to become noticeable in the crowded smartphone market, Palm is shipping it's flagship product, Palm® Pre™ with a wireless charger. Wireless charging has been with us for years - think of electric toothbrushes that rest on chargers with no wires connecting them. The charging happens through magnetic induction.
You just rest the phone on a pad and the phone get charged just like that electric toothbrush. But still you get something to be plugged to the wall and a cord running to where the pad is placed. It just eliminates you having to plug in the phone to a jack.
But of you who think of being green, can drop this as it wastes about 10-15% of efficiency from the wired models.
This will be efficient if all the small devices that need to be charged could use the same interface to charge. At this point, you eliminate multitude of transformers and save a lot of electrical energy. But that to happen, these type of charging need to become standard and it might take years. But the good point about Palm Pre is that it is a start that might lead to an standard in the future.

  • • Non-slip material securely fastens dock to tables, desks, and other surfaces, and prevents dock from
    moving when phone is removed
  • • Magnets in the dock align your phone in the correct position for charging, whether in portrait or
    landscape mode
  • • No cables or connectors required to attach your Palm® Pre™ phone to the dock
  • • Charges your device in same amount of time as wall charger
  • • Place Pre on the dock when you're on a call and speakerphone automatically turns on, and when you
take Pre off, speakerphone conversation is routed back to the phone
  • • When Pre rings on the dock, the phone answers when taken off the dock
  • • Requires Touchstone™ back cover, sold separately
