Two Huawei employees posted on New Year's Day message on Twitter, wished followers a "Happy #2019" and the message displayed, "via Twitter for iPhone". Huawei has punished the two employees according to an official memo.

A lot Chinese companies have been promoting Huawei products and scorned those who used iPhones from US rival Apple. Huawei overtook Apple become the #2 in the number of handsets shipped worldwide.

According to Reuters, citing an internal company memo - said that the Huawei staff involved in the Twitter blunder had been demoted and would be receiving reduced salaries.

The said message was quickly removed from Huawei's official Twitter feed but was preserved by users who shared the tweet.
