Zarlink to Discuss VoIP Quality at ITEXPO 2007

OTTAWA, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. today announced that Rick Bye, segment marketing manager with Zarlink's Wired Communications product group, will be discussing methods for ensuring quality in VoIP deployments at TMC's INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) Conference & EXPO West 2007 (Sept. 10-12, Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, California).

"Reducing operating costs and improving customer satisfaction are two main goals associated with improving the quality of experience," said Mr. Bye. "With the proper diagnostic tools, telecom service providers can implement line testing throughout the network and address both of these issues."

Consumers are placing a higher priority on quality of the experience (QoE) for VoIP services. Mr. Bye's session, "Understanding Quality of Experience", will discuss causes for QoE failures, and software and hardware solutions that can more easily diagnose and resolve these problems. The session is scheduled for September 11th from 4:30-5:15 p.m.

Mr. Bye joined Zarlink as part of its recent acquisition of Legerity. Zarlink's Wired Communications product group has been formed through the merger of the products and expertise of Zarlink's Network Communications group and Legerity. The new product group delivers a range of voice enhancement and timing and synchronization products for the access, residential and enterprise markets.

"We are very pleased that Rick will be participating in this year's show," said Rich Tehrani, TMC president and conference chairman. "Legerity products and solutions continue to be widely recognized and respected within the industry, and I am confident that our attendees will appreciate hearing Mr. Bye's perspective on VoIP quality of experience."

INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) Conference & EXPO, held September 10-12, 2007, is the world's largest and best-attended IP Communications trade show. At the last ITEXPO, held January 2007 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the show drew over 7,100 buyers and sellers of IP Communications products and services. For the upcoming show in September, TMC projects an attendance of 7,500.
