A New Channel Driver For Asterisk, chan_unistim.

This driver will enable Nortel IP Phones to be connected to Asterisk IP PBX. According to the information on SVN trunk, The following models have been confirmed to work: i2002, i2004 and i2050 (Nortel i2050 is a Soft Phone) with following features such as, Send/Receive CallerID, Redial, SoftKeys, SendText(), Music On Hold, Message Waiting Indication (MWI), Distinctive ring, Transfer, Threeway call, History, Forward, Dynamic SoftKeys are supported.
I also learned how to reboot a Nortel Phone.
This is how; Press mute, up, down, up, down, up, mute, 9, release(red button)
I also found a post, while looking for information about chan_unistim, on russellbryant.net. He goes on to say that this module will be a part of Asterisk 1.6. And makes a notice of how many protocols that the Asterisk now supports;

That brings the number of VoIP protocols natively supported in Asterisk up to 7. There are:

  • SIP
  • IAX2
  • H.323
  • MGCP
  • Cisco Skinny / SCCP
  • Jingle / GoogleTalk
  • UNISTIM
