Neustar May Bring Texting To And From Without A Cell Phone, From Any Digital Communication Device.

Texting from Any device http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/

Looks like we all are hooked to Texting and can't do without it. It may have been the same reason that AT&T raised the fee for texting almost double. Phone companies do not spend money to provide you with texting and the SMS rides on the communication channel that checks the connectivity with the cell phone towers. But AT&T and other carriers charge you for texting, making a killing on people's addiction to texting.

But that monopoly capability of carriers may come to an end, may be not end but make a dent due to a new discovery. IEEE is reporting that one company has found a way to send text (SMS) from any device to any device, providing they are capable of typing the message and displaying the same. The company is Neustar, the official administrator of the North American Numbering Plan. That is heavy as it can come. Neustar keeps track of 1.8 billion phone numbers around the world and 2.8 billion IP addresses and they are ever increasing, I meant the numbers.
Neustar, is about to free texting from the confinements of cellphones that carriers stick in your face most of the time and let us text ((SMS) to and from a capable device as we mentioned.
IEEE Spectrum interviewed Neustar's vice president of marketing for carrier services, Jean Foster.

Sending Free SMS To Multiple Recipients With Google Voice.

One thing I did not like about TXTing or SMS is that I could only send a single message to a single person. Unlike email message, I have to send the same message over and over to all the recipients. Only the phone companies could be happy about this unless you are on an unlimited SMS plan.
But now that you have Google Voice, you can send a SMS message, like you do an email message. Multiple recipients at one go, for free. It will be handy on Google Voice For Mobile.
Not only that the replies from each recipient will have their own thread and will appear on you Google Voice inbox.
It is available as a Chrome extension and pretty soon it will also appear on the Google Voice mobile app.

iPhone And Palm WebOS Gets Google Voice.

Google Voice comes to iPhone and Palm WebOS snapvoip.blogspot.com
We all know the saga of Google Voice App for iPhone which is yet to be approved was replaced with a web based solution, while we wait! (Apple testers must be asleep, shame on you Apple and AT&T)
Android and BlackBerry users are already enjoying the Google Voice App. I have it on my Google Phone and I am yet to place it on my blackberry.
But I am happy with the Google Voice webapp for the iPhone which is available from m.google.com/voice. The webapp is also availble for Palm Phones with WebOS, Nokia S60 and WinMo and others from the same address.
HTML5 app is fast and features like AppCache lets you interact with web apps without a network connection and local databases allow you to store data locally on the device.

You get one number for all your calls and Free SMS messages (Yes Free) and you get voicemail transcription, a lovely feature for those who yse a phone, any phone.
The free text messages is the way to beat those high priced testing from all the careers I know.
You can also make interbnational calls for lower cost and you can check out all these features on the Google Voice mobile site

Update:
Sipdroid Project has left a comment as well as another reader regarding the GUAVA. I have had no time to investigate the issue further but I will. This is not the first time Micheal Robertson made me say "HUH", I did not like what he did with Lindows, but again it was his idea, his product and his company. Above link displays a letter from I will keep a tab on this story and followup
The creator of the SIPdroid, I-P-Tel GMBH also provides Free SIP Accounts. Need to Add them to my The Free SIP Account Provider List
GUAVA For Android
So the Gizmo people have released the GUAVA, GoogleVoice Unauthorized Android Voice Application for Android and now you can make calls for free over the wireless connection using Gizmo5 and Google Voice (Grandcentral). It seem to work even witout a SIM card in the phone.
In order to use GUAVA, you need:
- Gizmo5 software
- A Google Voice account
- An Android phone
- GUAVA for android software
Once you have got that combination together, using the wireless connection from the Android phone, you can do many things, according to Guava;
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to any US number using your Google Voice and Gizmo5 account.
- GUAVA lets you receive calls to your Google Voice number from wherever you have a net connection.
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to Skype users
- GUAVA lets you make free calls to Googletalk users
- GUAVA lets you send free SMS messages to US phones.
- GUAVA lets you read incoming messages (via the browser)
- GUAVA works fine without a SIM card in fact that's how it was tested.
- You can get GUAVA software from www.gizmo5.com/guava
So check out how a GUAVA tastes without having to go to Hawaii!
