Reuters is telling us in an exclusive report, that the Apple Inc manufacture iPhones with Foxconn India as early as 2019. This is the first time Foxconn manufactured iPhones anywhere other than China.
What makes it even more interesting is that, according to a source familiar with the matter, Foxconn will be assembling the most expensive models, like iPhone X family making Apple India's future solid as well as the Foxconn's.

Foxconn already has a plant in Sriperumbudur town in Tamil Nadu, a southern resourceful state in India. Perhaps the work will begin there.  Foxconn  makes phones for Xiaomi Corp in India in this plant so it is possible that iPhones will come out of here as well
Foxconn will invest $356 million or 25 billion Indian rupees to expand the plant, according to Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister M C Sampath. As well as the monetary investment, this will also bring about 25000 jobs to the talented human resource pool in India.

This also could be a move by Apple to limit the impact of a trade war between the United States and China. This is not the first time iPhones were manufactured in India, Apple had Wistron Corp’s local unit in the Bengaluru technology hub assemble the lower-cost SE and 6S models, which were also the focus of Apple's sales in India. But it could mostly be that Apple, widening assembly beyond China to mitigate the risks of the Sino-U.S. trade war.
