If you have an iPhone and no data plan, then it is better ti turn off your data communications save you some money. iPhone will automatically try to connect to the net via any available medium. Once you disable the cellular data, it will only connect via WiFi Connection.
Just tap on settings -> General -> Network and turn off the Cellular Data and turn off.

If you do not do this, without a data plan, you might end up with a hefty bill from your carrier.

Elgato has released their newest version of EyeTV App, EyeTV App 1.1 is a universal app, meaning it will be at home on both iPhone and iPad. It is also compatible with iOS 4.If you are already a EyeTV owner, the update is free but if you are new, get ready to fork over $5.
Another requirement is that you need have a MAC OS X Computer running EyeTV software 3.3.3 or higher and configured with a compatible TV tuner, and apparently you’ll need a Core 2 Duo processor if you want to stream live television.With EyeTV, one will be able to watch, record live TV on iPhone or iPad via a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. TV buffs will be able to take their great TV shows along with them. Here are some stuff one will be able to do;

• Watch live TV and change channels anywhere (via a Wi-Fi or 3G connection)
• Watch your EyeTV recordings
• Browse the comprehensive Program Guide and view details
• Start recordings back home on your Mac immediately or schedule them for later
• View and edit your recording schedules

All is good and I think it will be nicer to watch TV on iPad than on iPhone. Obviously, taking in to account of the AT&T network, it might be better if one sticks to WiFi to watch streaming TV.

Facebook For iPhone 3.1.3, Is It A Hastily Done Job?

The updated facebook for iPhone seems to a something done in a hurry without much thought put into it. Even though it is supporting facebook Video watching (if you can find any videos to watch), Photos 720 pixels wide and view and write on facebook event walls, there seem to be some gaps in the product and the process.
First of all there is no mention of iOS 4 support, not even fast app switching, the most simplest form of multitasking that the new iPhone OS, iOS 4, which being released today, is bringing.
On the iPad side, only thing facebook has done is demanding imitation apps (like Facebook Ultimate,) to be taken down. There yet to be a native iPad app from facebook. I would have thought, facebook would have done better with iPad, like it did with the iPhone app for facebook.

On top of that there seem to be a UI glitch, in some peoples eyes, and some may not even notice it, but it is still there like Techcrunch says;

this update has at least one glaring UI bug. Sure, bugs are a part of the game, but how Facebook overlooked this one is dumbfounding. If you have new messages or friend requests on Facebook, load up the main screen in the app. There you’ll find certain areas badged to let you know there are updates for you to see — but these badges have a dark upper area that clashes badly with the light background of the main screen. I mean, it just looks awful. How did that get through quality control?

I think ever since the developer Joe Hewitt left, facebook has not found the right replacement. Hope those millions of people who uses facebook from their iPhones are happy and those with iPads soon.

With the way iAD is setup it seems that Apple can shutout any competitor from the scene. The news is that lawmakers are looking into the fact that Apple's competitors will not be able to advertise on iOS platforms running Apps, like iPhone, iPad and iPods. The information is scarce and only one media house, Financial Times has some information on the case but WSJ had the same news on possible Apple Antitrust case earlier last month.. Basically with rules setup by Apple, recently, could lock out rivals like Google, Microsoft from advertising on the iOS platform;

3.3.9 You and Your Applications may not collect, use, or disclose to any third party, user or device data without prior user consent, and then only under the following conditions:

- The collection, use or disclosure is necessary in order to provide a service or function that is directly relevant to the use of the Application. For example, without Apple's prior written consent, You may not use third party analytics software in Your Application to collect and send device data to a third party for aggregation, processing, or analysis.

- The collection, use or disclosure is for the purpose of serving advertising to Your Application; is provided to an independent advertising service provider whose primary business is serving mobile ads (for example, an advertising service provider owned by or affiliated with a developer or distributor of mobile devices, mobile operating systems or development environments other than Apple would not qualify as independent); and the disclosure is limited to UDID, user location data, and other data specifically designated by Apple as available for advertising purposes.

Apple earlier made amendments to it's developer policies earlier, which industry assumed with "Apple Trying To Dodge Antitrust Probe". Well I like to see how the game err the case will play out. Apple seem to be bit arrogant.

Next version of iPhone OS now renamed to iOS, will come to us on June 21st. It will support iPhone 4 and of course iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch. iPhone 3G and iPod Touch will not have all the features enabled and sadly the first generation of iPods will not be supported.

Multitasking iPhone OS 4 is renamed iOS 4. Steve says multitasking will not kill the battery.
Also comes with New "folders", Retina display integration, Unified Mail with threading, enhanced photo and camera apps, more enterprise support, Mobile device management, wireless app distribution, Multiple Exchange accounts, Exchange server 2010, SSL VPN support and Ta DA BING, I had to laugh. DOn't worry Google and Yahoo are still there.
If not for AT&T, I really want one of these iPhone 4 with iOS4!
