Back To iOS 4.3.3 From iOS 4.3.5, No SHSH Blobs Needed : Geohot

Back To iOS 4.3.3 From iOS 4.3.5 http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
If you upgraded to iOS 4.3.5 and now thinking of getting back to iOS 4.3.3 for that full untethered jailbreak, Geohot says it is no big deal.
People who were trying to downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 were faced with errors, no matter if they saved their 4.3.3 SHSH blobs or not. But the solution Geohot is providing can do very well without the iOS 4.3.3 SHSH Blobs.
All you need is restore files, RedSn0w, iOS 4.3.3, and iTunes 10.4 and simple instructions.(Download links provided on Goehot article)
Comments mention the method did not work on iPads and Geohot also mentions that they did not try the method themselves but one of their readers provided the solution.
Geohot.

Dutch Grab 300,000 Sony Playstations While Sony Grabs Your IP Addresses Via Geohot Case. No Rootkits Needed This Time!

Update:
Sony prevailed over LG and the PlayStation seizure order has been lifted (Damn)

Dutch Grab Sony Playstations While Sony Grabs Your IP Addresses. http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
In the news today is that Dutch Customs have confiscated 300,000 playstation 3's and I hope they will hold them for ever as in the Goehot case (Hotz vs SONY) the judge has granted SONY rights to get all IP addresses of everyone who visited Goehot's site. I wonder how these people become judges. Because it is not wise. Since the news broke out about the case I think I have visited to get information about the case and so have millions of others. According to Wired;

"Bluehost maintains Hotz's geohot.com site. The approved subpoena requires the company to turn over 'documents reproducing all server logs, IP address logs, account information, account access records and application or registration forms' tied to Hotz's hosting. The Bluehost subpoena also demands 'any other identifying information corresponding to persons or computers who have accessed or downloaded files hosted using your service and associated' with the www.geohot.com website, including but not limited to the 'geohot.com/jailbreak.zip file.'"

How about people who visited the site to get information about the case and people who visited to get information about iPhone Jailbreak, which is legal.
What is worse is that the same judge granted subpoenas to Hotz's Blogger.com account, Twitter account and YouTube account. The YouTube account contains a video called "Jailbroken PS3 3.55 with Homebrew," and Sony has managed to convince the judge to grant the company access to the IP addresses of anyone who watched the video or posted comments on the video.
I think Judge is setting a bad precedent with this case but the good thing about is that there are many people who visited those sites and so will be the size of backlash. If the way Geohot raised money for the SONY case is any evidence, it will be pretty strong. One thing is sure, Sony has Microsoft IP address as well;

I really hope LG wins in the patent case and hope those 300,000 PS3 consoles seized by Dutch get thrown in to Rotterdam harbor! :), Oops that will be a ecological disaster.
I think we did not learn enough with Sony Rootkits. I will tattoo "No Sony" on my brain, Perhaps a LG TV to replace my current one!

"Sony Vs Hotz" Geohot Raises Money To Defend Against Sony! And Is Interviewed

"Sony Vs Hotz" http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
iPhone hacker George “Geohot” Hotz is in the middle of a heated lawsuit "Sony Vs Hotz" with Sony. Geohot “jailbroke” the Sony PS3 and circumvented Sony’s DRM. The ramification of his exploit is that Sony is suing Geohot for “encouraging privacy” on their platform. In that case, making PS3 also should be encouraging piracy?
EFF thinks;

"Simply put, Sony claims that it's illegal for users to access their own computers in a way that Sony doesn't like. Moreover, because the CFAA has criminal as well as civil penalties, Sony is actually saying that it's a crime for users to access their own computers in a way that Sony doesn't like."
Once you are at EFF, please also read Related Issues: Coders' Rights ProjectDMCAFree SpeechInnovationTerms Of (Ab)Use
Yes if this continues, one day it might become illegal to upgrade memory in your SONY computer. Buying a computer, having an internet connection also can be constitutes to "Promoting Piracy" if SONYs reasoning holds. But INAL so don't count me on anything, I am just voicing my mind, why I would not buy anything sony, too bad considering all the sony stuff I have (Sony you just lost a sale, I decided to go with Apple 17 Macbook Pro.)
Even Geohot is pretty civil about it, even after the lawsuit broke out he went out and bought A Sony Xperia phone, used I might add, but I will not do that, It is just too tiring to hear and follow Sony's whims. I will find a good racing game on another platform.
Boycott Sony, yes, I don't want moronic tyrant, I'd rather buy from a creative tyrant!:)
Geohot also found a Boycott Sony campaign spawning on the net!. I disconnected my PS3 from the net and the only thing I use it for Playing GT5 and watching Blueray movies in the room. If need updates, I will get it manually.
Also with mounting pressure, Geohot had to resort to ask for help on the net and he did get help, I guess in abig way, his request was the top SONY news on Google
And  Geohot closed the first round of donations because he got what he needed for his defense at the moment;

Thank you so so much for all of your help, things are looking up money wise.
Expect to see a few more lawyers on my responses!
I have enough to cover my legal fees for the time being.
And in the absolute worst case scenario, we don't want Sony getting it :-P

For now, the best thing you can do is spread the word
Let people know how Sony treats customers
Let people know Sony would rather sue than be proactive and try to fix the problem
Let people know about laws like the DMCA which stifle innovation, and don't do anything to fix the problems they were created to solve
Then as things got famous, he got interviewed, I watched it live and for those who missed, here is the video;

Finally I wish all this come to a best resolution for all and hope Sony learns how to do PR.

greenpois0n Released By Chronic Dev Team, Uses Goehot Exploit

#greenpois0n Released By #Chronic-Dev-Team, Uses #Goehot Exploit http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Chronic Dev Team has released the initial version of greenpois0n for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generations, and of course iPad!. They also mention of an upcoming version, supporting Apple TV and iPod Touch 2nd gen.
On iPhone 4, greenpois0n works with firmware 4.1. Even with lower firmware, they say you can use TinyUmbrella to preserve the baseband.
Chronic Dev team is using the controversial  bootrom USB exploit by Geohot rather than the SHAtter Exploit.
You can download the greenpois0n from, where else, http://www.greenpois0n.com/
 and follow the info at Chronic Dev Team Blog.

JailBreak Wars! Geohot & Limera1n Jailbreaks iOS 4.1, Upsets Jailbreak Applecart.

#JailBreak Wars! #Geohot & #Limera1n Jailbreaks iOS 4.1,  http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/

Limera1n has been released to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 in what seems like a showdown among dev teams. iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team are not very happy about Geohot for releasing the reportedly buggy exploit on his own.
We have been fans of iPhone Dev Team for eons and Chronic Dev Team has been in our radar recently. But Geohot's Blackra1n has been around and helped us to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 in last October!
The iPhone Dev Team, or the member MuscleNerd to be exact, has mentioned that the Limera1n will relock phones opened with Ultrasn0w, one of the most used jailbreaking software. The iPhone Dev Team is asking people to withhold the SHAtter exploit and Chronic Dev Team is going to modify GreenPoison jailbreak to use Geohots exploit.

But the real reason for the fight is that if there are too many exploits are in the open, Apple can fix all of the once and make it harder for people using jailbroken iOS devices.
What is more is that the jailbreak with Limera1n seem to act differently on different devices. Engadget found some of the icons missing after restart and didn't regain App Store, Maps, Game Center and Calendar even after a restore.I guess better wait and test the waters. But if you are brave, follow the link below for windowss based Limera1n, don't get too wet.

Geohot Unlocks iPhone 3.1.2 With Blacksn0w, Taste It On November 4th For Totaly Free

Blackra1n and Blacksn0w reminds me of November Rain snapvoip.blogspot.com
Geohot who gave us the blackra1n not so long ago, helping us to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 (alas without baseband support) has now giving us Blacksn0w in November. I could only think of November Rain. All those new phone will be be able to communicate freely, thanks to Geohot.
Also because of the iPhone unlock arena is filled with folks who are trying to make a buck off other peoples labor, Geohot is on a campaign to enlighten users of iPhones.

I have an unlock for 05.11.07. I will be releasing on 11/04/09, for $0.00
I'm not going to post all these scam sites here, as I don't want to give them the pagerank boost. Rather I'll give you a whitelist, two people make unlocks, me and the dev team. Every iPhone unlock site you see out there is selling our stuff, repackaged in some form or another. Same goes for jailbreaks, although ih8sn0w and chronicdev are legit. Notice what all the legit ones have in common? They are free.
Let's shut all these assholes down, and tell the iPhone owning world all they need is at blackra1n.com, including blacksn0w instructions on it's release date, 11/04/09(yes, will support hacktivation). You do your part, and I'll do mine making things as simple, reliable, and straightforward as possible.
