Google Docs team updated the Google Docs app for Android today to provide even better experience of Google Docs on your Android tablet. I was pretty pleased already how it behaved on my Asus EEE Pad Transformer but the new design makes it pleasure to work with. The Google DOcs team has customized the look to make the most of the larger screen space on tablets. The new layout consisting of a three-panel view, allows me to navigate through filters and collections, view your document list, and see document details, including a thumbnail preview of the document on one place.
No more opening of many documents before you find the right one.
All these are available in 46 languages on tablet devices with Android 3.0+ (Honeycomb) and above. Head over to the Android Market.

News paper business has been fighting a losing battle lately but there are many news papers yet to find a way to emerge from the information overload see that we all are swimming in.
But two news papers in Philadelphia has managed to do something different and present their news media on an Android based tablet for a subscription fee.

Philadelphia Media Network, owner of The Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com, will offer up to 5,000 Arnova 10 G2 tablet computers for sale starting Tuesday for as little as $99 to customers who agree to purchase discount subscriptions to three apps developed for the newly released Android tablet
PMN is offering the Arnova on two contract tiers: those who want read the Inquirer and the Daily News for two years play $99 for the tablet, and a $10/mo subscription fee. People who would rather keep their contract terms as short as possible can ink a one year deal for $13/mo, and pay $129 for the tab. The total outlay comes out to $339 on a two year term, and $285 on a one year, so please Philadelphia — just get the one year subscription

Asus EEE Pad Transformer TF101, my choice of Android Tablets, has got a cousin now with 3G capabilities. I am too late for the new device as many times I had wished for 3G connectivity for my transformer on the run. I had to settle for my MiFi to connect my transformer to the net on those occasions.
But for those who were holding on for the 3G enabled device, it has appeared in Europe for €499 (16GB) and €599 (32GB), a bit more than the amount I paid for my Transformer. The device is named Asus EEE Pad Transformer TF101G, with G at the end denoting the 3G.
Asus Italia has the product online already.
May the product reach all those who are waiting for it eagerly.

We were not expecting this but Toshiba has sent some signs of challenges over to Apple regarding the Apple iPad. Basically as per Toshoba iPad lacks bunch of stuff being a true tablet.
Toshiba should know, they were selling tablet PC's when only tablets Steve Jobs knew were in his medicine cabinet.
But the comments on the post on All things D, have laid wrath on Toshiba, I glanced over a few but was not able to locate any siding Toshiba.
I do not care much about Flash and it's super cookies but after blocking Adobe Flash from spying and sharing my internet habits, I do visit Flash enabled sites. Because I need some of those information, even the flashy Toshiba site, of which I declined storage of content on my PC.
Everyone by now also knows that I am not a fan of iPad and the AT&T combination and steadfastly looking for a suitable Android Tablet. Now I have one more to the list headed by Motorola XOOM.Good thing is both are sporting the Nvidia Tegra 2, with Tegra 3 Quad Core on the things, including insults, could get only better.

Motorola, reportedly  has placed orders for about 700,000-800,000 units of Motorola Honeycomb based tablet, Motorola XOOM, with four color options targeting the first quarter of 2011. The news comes from Digitimes' sources from upstream component makers. They also speculated that the orders might go up as high as one million units in the quarter.

The boom in the tablet PC market stand to make greater opportunities for large, (Taiwan-based notebook chassis makers such as Catcher Technology and Foxconn Technology), as well as to others ( handset chassis makers including Taiwan Chi Cheng (CCC) and Silitech Technology) in the coming year.

Google's Android 3.0 will be powering most 7- to 10-inch tablet PCs as the Android OS 3.0 also known as Honeycomb is specially made for tablets. Currently, Motorola and Samsung are Google's priority partners with LG Electronics and High Tech Computer (HTC) following behind for the Android 3.0, according to Digitimes.

The Xoom tablet PC is attractive tablet PC with a 10.1-inch touch panel (1280 by 800), powered by Nvidia's Tegra 2 processor with 3G network capability which is upgradable to 4G. The XOOM has HDMI and USB ports,a 5-megapixel camera and front facing webcam for video conferencing. From the current tablet landscape, Motorola XOOM, stands out as the most attractive Android Tablet to me.

While I was waiting for CES to find the best Android tablet, which is of same size of iPad or bigger, Onkyo have decided to add two Android tablets to my list.The two models, TA117C3 and TA117C1, which seem to be the same except the memory capacity. the TA117C1 has 512MB memory and 8GB NAND storage while  TA117C3 sports 1GB memory and 16GB storage capacity. For the rest they both have a 10.1-inch touch panel (1024 x 600 resolution), Android 2.2, NVIDIA's Tegra 250 (1GHz), 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a microSD expansion slot, USB 2.0 connectivity (x2), HDMI out and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.

10" Android Froyo Tablets, From InterPad, Hannspree and Now, Mouse Computers

There are few Android tablets, spewing news out there but there are still a few with actual relase dates and such. I have come across few, One from Interpad, One from Hannspree and the latest from Mouse Computer. All three has a lot in common but first this I noticed is that they are not in USA!
The first two are in Europe and the last is in Japan. But not to worry, you can catch an Archos Android Tablet, in any size you want, soon.

Interpad has dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 T20 chip in a package only a half-inch thin, plus 1GB of DDR2 RAM and 16GB of flash storage (expandable via microSD), connected to the outside via, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 and HDMI out. The juice comes from a 3900mAh battery supposed to be good for 8-12 hours.

Hannspree Tablet is a tiny tiny bit different,  a 1GHz Tegra 2 SOC is surrounded by 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD), an accelerometer, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity plus mini HDMI and USB ports.

If you thought DELL Streak was a cool Android Tablet cum Phone, you can freeze yourself with the just announced ViewSonic Viewpad 7, a 7 inch dual cam Android Froyo based device with 3G capabilities.

It seems Protocol Snow has been banned from buying an iPad for ever!. The guy has been buying and shipping iPads overseas with a "Little Profit". After a few trips to a local Apple store and a few iPads later, he has been banned from buying an iPad ever :).
Perhaps now your credit card and personal info are tied to your iPad purchase so when those over seas friends registered (You can't do much without registering) the iPod, some kind of alrm triggered? Who knows, the iPad I play around with is registered to a coporate entity and I am waiting for the Android Slate or Android Tablet. I want to give my privacy info to a bigger player!

DELL Streak, Android Based Tablet Info Leaked!

DELL has released (leaked) information on its forth coming tablet based on Android in two sizes. 7" and 10" and seems pretty much like iPads but more like intended to be in landscape mode, from the position of DELL logos.
The 7" Android Tablet will come to a store near you in late 2010 and the 10" DELL tablet will come in 2011. 
DELLs other Android quests include DELL Aero and DELL Mini 5. DELL Aero is also supposed to come in June, yes this June.

Additional Screen Resolutions And Densities On Android 1.6

We all heard about the new Android 1.6's support for new screen sizes and the fact that it will run seemlessly on many devices, not just phones. There is a pretty big change from the HVGA (320X480) size suppored by T-Mobile G1 and Samsung i7500 or my Android Dev Phone.
There are three new resolution classes according to Android Dev Blog;

• small: devices with a screen size smaller than the T-Mobile G1 or Samsung I7500, for example the recently announced HTC Tattoo
• normal: devices with a screen size roughly the same as the G1 or I7500.
• large: devices with a screen size larger than the G1 or I7500 (such as a tablet-style device.)

Since any given device falls within above three classes, it will be easier for developers to tailor their applications to adapt to the the devices. Android Developper has only to utilize the new tools that have been introduced into Android Framework APIs and SDK. They are also described well in the documentation at the developer site The documentation also provides the developer with a quick check list to verify if the developers app will run on an Android device of any screen size.
