LulzSec Bids Adieu

LulzSec Bids Adieu http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
After months (50 days) of mayhem, disruptions, disclosures, chaos, and many other things depending on what camp you are on, LulzSec (Laughing at your security) is dissolving. Via a tweet and a message posted on pastebin;

  8. Friends around the globe,

  9. We are Lulz Security, and this is our final release, as today marks something meaningful to us. 50 days ago, we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean: the Internet. The hate machine, the love machine, the machine powered by many machines. We are all part of it, helping it grow, and helping it grow on us.
  10. .....
  11. .

  17. So with those last thoughts, it's time to say bon voyage. Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind - we hope - inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere. Anywhere.

  18. Thank you for sailing with us. The breeze is fresh and the sun is setting, so now we head for the horizon.

  19. Let it flow...

  20. Lulz Security - our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe.
Well Goodbye Lulz

Hacking Spreads To Road Signs, And Jalopnik-Rules

Jalopnic Road Sign Hack http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
With all these high end hacking like LulzSec making you wonder where we are going, there are some hack I don't mind seeing. They reminds me of childhood franks we used do. Annoying but harmless except thy might hide an important message.
It all started when Jalopnik posted an article how to hack electronic road signs. Even though they warned not to try that at home, (Of course there are no road signs at home, unless you are homeless and living on the street), people took to hacking road signs.
I don't know what to say about these hacks but they did certainly made me laugh!

LulzSec Keeping Media And Others Busy

LulzSec http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
In these busy days LulzSec seem to be busy as well. Then the media are even busier trying to decipher what "LulzSec" is and law enforcement offices around the world trying to catch them or busy telling us that they did. Just Google for LulzSec and you will see the news!
All the while "Lulz Boat" on Twitter keep sailing with news bits, like the lately leaked Arizona Law Enforcement documents. I have not seen the documents but I did read the BoingBoing's analysis of the documents.
Of all the information that was on boingboing, I had to laugh at aluminum foil protection of cell phones at all times to prevent them being accessed [find my iphone and wiping the data] or or from transmitting. (I guess they forgot to tell, if the phone is from AT&T to leave them alone)
Then there was information on other phone tools like Cop Recorder, Trapster.
It is hard to decide whether to laugh or cry.
You should at least read the BB report.

LulzSec Says We Were Not Arrested In UK

LulzSec Say We Are Still Free http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
This morning there were news that said UK's Police Computer e-Crime Unit (PCeU) has arrested a 19-year-old man in Wickford, Essex, in connection with LulzSec misdeeds against CIA, SONY, and PBS, that we heard for last few months.
In either case as Slashdot puts it, LulzSec had poured "Cloud Water" on the news saying that they are still free. Via Their Twitter account they also announced that they had nothing to do with stolen UK senses data that someone posted on pastebin;
"Just saw the pastebin of the UK census hack. That wasn't us — don't believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first" LulzSec Twitter.

Lulzsec : We Are Not At War With Anonymous!

Lulzsec Anon war http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Lulzsec, the Internet griefer group, who gave SONY it's run for the security or Sony insecurity has announced that it is not at war with Anonymous. This morning it is all over the Internet due to an altercation involving 4chan.

“To confirm, we aren’t going after Anonymous. 4chan isn’t Anonymous to begin with, and /b/ is certainly not the whole of 4chan. True story./b/ is the peon of all the 4chan boards and 4chan is the mass amplification of crowdsourcing used by AnonOps to gain support. #MediaFacts Saying we’re attacking Anonymous because we taunted /b/ is like saying we’re going to war with America because we stomped on a cheeseburger.”
And @YourAnonNews has also announced "We are not at war with @Lulzsec!"

SONY Hacked Again And LulzSec Compromised (NOTz)

Sony Lulzsec http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
People saw today at the same time as Apple WWDC 2011 Keynote was on the way, Lulsec releasing Sony Computer Entertainment’s Developer Network Source Code to several file sharing websites. LulzSec was mainly responsible for most Sony Network compromises according to the news we see.
The Sony Developer source code could be the one delivered to Sony developers, who develop games for Sony PS3 etc and if so, it is already in the public. Yes the developers are restricted from sharing the code, just like other developer networks, like Apple or Microsoft.
But today's stinger news was that LulzSec was compromised and one of it's members, Robert Cavanaugh, was apprehended and taken into custody by the FBI after an apparent counter attack, according to an article on Epoch Times that somehow got on to the SlashDot.
But don't be so heart broken, I went searching for the truth after reading the news. So the first place I landed was Twitter and checked on @Lulzsec, and I found the following message;

I guess possibly Epoch Times looking for publicity and Sony is still insecure, I meant unsecured. the case is closed, for now.

LulzSec Hacks SONY Network (SonyPictures.com) Again

LulzSec Hacks SONY http://snapvoip.blogspot.com/
Looks like Sony is not getting a break from hackers. I am sure now the up nosed company must be thinking we should not have banned installing Linux on Playstation 3's. Sony failed to understand, that once you sell the box, that it should limit heavy handed control of what users do with it, withing legal limits. Installing Linux on it should have been users wish, not Sony's law. In any case how many do go around hacking their boxes? If they have acted properly, I doubt they would have received the moniker, Sony Bully. My teachers always told me that most bullies are very insecure. Now I guess Sony is a bully.

SonyPictures.com and It compromised over 1,000,000 users'personal information, including passwords, email addresses, home addresses,dates of birth, and all Sony opt-in data associated with their accounts. I thought after what happened with other Sony networks, it would have learned a lesson and tightened the network security. According to a statement by LulzSec, it was not that hard to break into and they have posted data on a few places on the net.

Message By Lulzsec:

Our goal here is not to come across as master hackers, hence what we're about to reveal: SonyPictures.com was owned by a very simple SQL injection, one of the most primitive and common vulnerabilities, as we should all know by now. From a single injection, we accessed EVERYTHING. Why do you put such faith in a company that allows itself to become open to these simple attacks?What's worse is that every bit of data we took wasn't encrypted. Sony stored over 1,000,000 passwords of its customers in plaintext, which means it's just a matter of taking it. This is disgraceful and insecure: they were asking for it.
