According to a post on Fortune, Intel CEO thinks if Nokia drop Meego, it should have at least teamed up with Google and it's mobile OS, Android.

"I wouldn't have made the decision he made, I would probably have gone to Android if I were him, MeeGo would have been the best strategy but he concluded he couldn't afford it." " Intel's Chief Executive Paul Otellini said.

We also thought the same, when we wrote about Meego go and Nokia Lay offs. Anyway Elop, Nokia CEO was attracted to Microsoft money it seems. It is sad to see such a successful company falling on it's knees, specially in front of Microsoft. But I guess even bad CEO's know the value of money. But Android And iOS should be happy, one of the major competitors are going away, if not soon, pretty soon.
Meego was born out of Linux-based platforms Maemo and Moblin.when Nokia and Intel decided to join the forces last year. 
The Intels CEO also left a remark for tablet aficionados, namely Apple fan boys,

"(The view that) 'PCs are dead and tablets are going to eat our lunch and there's no growth in the PC market', let me just say 'bunk' to that,"

But I can't wait to see how Elop runs when certain CEO (Whom even Google will not consider)start throwing chairs around!

"Night Fishing (Paranmanjang)", The Movie Made Entirely On iPhone Wins Golden Bear Award

A short movie directed by two South Korean director brothers,  Park Chan-wook and  Chan-kyong, "Night Fishing (Paranmanjang)" won the Golden Bear Award for best short film at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, organizers Announced today. The film was shot completely on an iPhone.

"The film we chose is nothing but a small miracle. Throughout the multi-layered original story of a simple man who is forced to confront his life and death through his shape-shifting, we experienced transformation, judgment and deep forgiveness," wrote the jury of the festival's Shorts Section on its Web site.

 
The movie, starring Oh Kwang-rok and Lee Jung-hyun, is about a man who transcends his current and former lives after catching a woman while fishing in a river in the middle of the night.

Tiny TinyUmbrella Released!

notcom, Chronic Dev Team, has posted on his blog that a newer and leaner TinyUmbrella has been released, born out of need to save the bandwidth the downloads are consuming.
Another good news is that he will attend to iOS 4.2.1 recovery kick out issue, yes we are looking forward to it.

I just pushed a smaller, trimmed-down version of TinyUmbrella. This change had to take precedence over the other things I was working on for TinyUmbrella because the bandwidth usage was insane. Now that this is out of the way, I can go back to the 4.2.1 recovery kick out issue. Have a great weekend folks!

Android Developers site has released some statistics on  Google's Android Platform from Android 1.5 to the latest Android 2.3. The charts and table below shows relative number of active Android devices powered by given iteration of Android OS.
Immediately below is the information about data collected during two weeks period ending February 2, 2011. Data is based on devices accessing Android Market.

The Justice Department and the FTC are looking in to if Apple is breaking U.S. antitrust laws by forcing / coaxing media companies' customers into the payment system for its iTunes store which require a 30% cut, according to the people familiar with the situation, WSJ published,
The European Commission, have mentioned that the commission was aware of the new subscription service and was "carefully monitoring the situation.", according to EC spokesperson.

It looks like APple is trying lock down usrs and publishers within it's confinements as the tablet market currently Apple is enjoying is being encroached by Android tablets, some of which, like Motorola XOOM, are better and more expensive. I should know, I am getting a Motorola XOOM.
Subscriptions will not be a problem as I do not have any and music, I buy else where. But I hope those Apple fan boys realize what Apple is doing to them.
I hope if Apple is doing something wrong, hope the authorities will get them, but then again, what would I do in Apple's shoes, It is a free market!
