It looks like the  rumored Android 2.1 leaked ROM is a reality now as it is available for download at XDA-Developers.com. There were some images of the Hero running Android 2.1 that we saw on engadget, of which one we posted above.
There are some steps involved to get the latest Android 2.1 on your HTC Hero but be careful as this is an unofficial release and we really do not know much about it. So take precoutions, back up your device before atempting to taste the new ROM.

As expected Sprint HTC Hero could be had for $99!, the same price the Droid Eris sells for. Best Buy has dropped the price to meet Verizon's Droid Eris (A rebadged Hero) price point, at least till the end of December, for holidays I guess.

engadget has brought together HTC Hero and Droid Eris for a modeling session. The Sprint GSM and Verizon GSM versions were compared. Even though the devices compared well the team was unable to select a winner. Perhaps, you can and better do it before all those Android 2.0 devices flood the market!;

Not to be out done by The Droid getting Android 2.0,  HTC Hero seem to be getting the Android 2.0 upgrade as well, according to a Twitter post by HTC as shown above. Looks like they busy at getting Sense UI working with Android 2.0

I wonder if all new Android devices will carry an eclair!

Sprint Gets HTC Hero, The First Android On Carrier.

According to a screen capture that engadget mobile managed to get off HTC support site, it seems that the rumors of Sprint getting HTC Hero has been confirmed, at least unofficially.
Perhaps Sprint is hoping that Android might stop it's current bleeding and keep customers from leaving.

HTC Hero Gets Adobe Flash
The just announced Android based HTC Hero seems to be the first Android device to have capability to have Adobe Flash on board. Adobe and HTC announced the fact and released a video and a press release. The link to the video is in the press release posted below.
I think will all I hear about HTC Hero, I will replace my Developer version of Android G1, or Google Phone, with it as soon as it comes out.
