G.729 codec module for Asterisk Updated

Digium announced a new release of the Digium G.729 codec module for Asterisk. The release carries a number of improvements and accompanied by a performance testing tool that allows users to validate each flavor of the module against their chosen platform.
According to the news release, the new modules were built with version 4.3 of the GNU C compiler to improve and enhance the encoding/decoding performance of the codec. The modules are compiled in both 32-bit and 64-bit varieties for each CPU flavor and supports both modes, so that users with 64-bit CPUs running a 32-bit Linux installation can still have a version of the module optimized for their CPU type. By using GCC 4.3 the team was able to provide optimization to more CPU families like Intel Core2, AMD Barcelona, etc.

The codec modules are available for Asterisk 1.2, Asterisk 1.4 and Asterisk 1.6.x on both x86-32 and x86-64 Linux platforms, and the benchg729, performance testing tool both the Linux platforms.
You need to have your licences together in order to work with the updated modules. If you do not have it, you can easily obtain them from Digium.
The improved g.729 codec for Asterisk could be downloaded from Digium Downloads.

G729 Codec Module Updated (codec_g729-v34) For All Platforms. From Digium.

It is nice being able to write while traveling to VON! Yes a buddy of mine is driving (and complaining where is the engine noise!!) my super efficient Prius and I am working on mu UMPC. (Could not deal with lack of WiFi on high ways! so connected to the net via, my good old Cell phone.)
I almost forgot to mention that Digium has released an update/upgrade to G729 codec Module.
The software G.729 codec module from Digium has been updated for all platforms. There are x86_32 and x86_64 versions optimized for specific processors available for both Asterisk 1.6 and 1.4 for the following platforms.
* Linux
* Solaris 10
* FreeBSD 7.0
* FreeBSD 6.1

What Changed:

* For Asterisk trunk / 1.6, builds have been updated for CLI API changes.
* All non-Linux builds for both 1.4 and 1.6 have been updated for various API changes.
* All of the Linux builds include changes so that an Ethernet interface explicitly named eth0, or eth1, etc., is no longer required.

All of the builds are available from Digium
