Sir Arthur C Clarke has passed away

Science fiction writer and a visionary, Sir Arthur C Clarke has passed away at the age of 90 in Sri Lanka.
Sir Arthur C. Clarke was a gentleman and a teacher and an avid diver. I had the pleasure of working with him a while ago and learned a lot from him, of all things, about diving!.
On the communications front, he envisioned, during the second world war, in a paper he published that, at 22,000 miles above the Earth’s surface, communications satellites would sit in geo-stationary orbit, allowing electronic signals to be bounced off them around the globe and that only three of them needed to cover the globe. His prediction soon came to be true as soon as the first satellite began to orbit the earth.
But he was mostly known for his creation, with the legendary film director Stanley Kubrick, of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the HAL 2000. He also appeared in a numerous TV programs and authored a lot of science fiction books.
Rest in peace Sir Arthur.
