How To Remove Skype Mobile From Android (Verizon HTC Droid)

If you got an Android phone with Skype Mobile preinstalled, you may have found it is hard to remove. In fact all the information I have seen are pointing you to root my Android sites.
Various reports points to that on phones like HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon, eating the precious battery life and occupying vast chunks of phone's memory, plus storage.
So how do we remove this pesky app?
Looks like you do not have to go rooting your Android.
Information And Instructions;

App name on Verizon phones : VZW_Skype.apk
Instructions;
Get the root explorer app from Android Market, once launched, go to systems>apps and click on the Mount r/w button on the top, find the "VZW_Skype.apk" and delete it.

You are done. Some people are using Titanium also to remove apps like this and of course it is your choice.

(sorry folks if you love Skype and enjoy it this is not a bash on Skype as it used to be. We don't love it but we use it on various platforms and from time to time, there comes the need to remove Skype or Uninstall Skype, perhaps only to reinstall.

I was looking for Skype for windows phone 7 and I was surprised to find Skype has discontinued, Skype lite and Skype for Windows mobile. I am sure they will have a version ready pretty soon as most of their customers are windows users. Skype on my iPhone and Android works fine, but after doing some searches, Skype is working on my Windows phone too.
When I went to download Skype for windows mobile, this is the message Skype gave;

Unfortunately, Skype Lite – a version of Skype for your mobile phone – and Skype for Windows phones are no longer available for download from our site.
We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop.
 We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones were not offering the best possible Skype experience.
Can I still use Skype Lite if I already have it?
Yes. People who have already installed Skype Lite can continue to use it throughout 2010.
Can I still use Skype for Windows phones if I already have it?
Yes. People who have already installed Skype for Windows phones can of course continue to use it.

A search on Skype forums showed that Skype mobile is working (with various quirks) on Whindows phones. But skype kept on deleting the  links for download that various members posted.
Remember you can not install *.exe files on windows mobile OS, you need a cab file, windowsmobile.cab, to be exact. another requirements is that it better be the latest, like Skypemobile 3.0.0.256.
So where do you download them? We certainly do not provide here but there are few places on the net; As always exercise good judgment when you download stuff from the net, if you are grownup enought o have a phone, a windows phone at that, then you should know that we are not responsible if your phone explodes or simply dies. There are other services like FRING that operates fine on windows phones.
