engadget has done a thorough job of reviewing the Palm Pixi. Joshua actually takes time to explain the slot in the mobile market that Palm Pixi fits,(something that I did not think about) and more, like the internals, display, keyboard and the camera. The "cheap and cute" actually makes sense, once you have read the article.
I did have a palm device, about a decade ago, but now thinking of checking out the Palm Pre, after all the goodies the engadget describes.$50 and touchstone capability might be the driving force.
At least it beats iPhone, in the thin category, being 0.43 inches thick, thinner than the iPhone.

Palm Anounces Palm Pixi, Thinnest Phone With WebOS

Palm has introduced Palm Pixi, which has acquired most of the Palm Pre technologies like webos but WiFi. But to release it on the day apple is to set media houses afire with it's new releases might not be the best idea.
The phone has a touch screen and a fixed keyboard with 8GB memory and a 3Megapixel camera. The phone will cost about $150 and will be on the Sprint shelves in time for the holidays.

The artist series (www.palm.com/artistseries) of the phone may be attractive to some people, but if I am a Palm buyer, I will go for Palm Pre.

Synergy on Palm Pixi makes messaging easier by showing you all your conversations with the same person in one chat-style thread, so you can start a conversation on AIM Instant Messenger, Google Talk(TM) or Yahoo! Messenger and continue it by text message later.
