Digium Releases Skype for Asterisk Public Beta

Snap VoIP On Asterisk
After Private testing for a while Digium has released a "time-expiring" beta of Skype for Asterisk (SFA).
So if you are enthusiastic about Skype for Asterisk, better hurry to Digium online store and purchase the product for zero dollars. The software will stop working on August 31. The download is also currently time-limited - it will be available until August 7 on our website.
If you did not know what Skype For Asterisk (SFA) is, it is an add-on channel driver for Asterisk telephony solutions. By adding Skype for Asterisk channel driver to ANY Asterisk server will provide complete access to the Skype worldwide network and the services it offers, like low cost PSTN access and free calling to over 440+ million Skype users.

Please follow the guidelines regarding G.729 licences if you want to operate this channel, like with SkypeIn Number or also known as Skype Online number.

G.729 provides superior call quality and is very inexpensive to purchase from Digium. I have G.729 codec (software) on most of my Digium PSTN cards and I love it. But be for warned, my next purchase, after sfa, will most probably be a TC400B. The TC400B decompresses G.729a (8.0kbit) or G.723.1 (5.3kbit) into u-law or a-law; or, compresses u-law or a-law into G.729a (8.0kbit) or G.723.1 (5.3kbit). The TC400B is rated to handle up to 120 bi-directional G.729a transformations or 92 bi-directional G.723.1 transformations. The TC400B does not require additional licensing fees for the use of these codecs nor does it require the registration process associated with Digium's software-based G.729a codec licensing. Makes my life a bit easier!.
