T-Home Offers Sinus 501V, An Advanced IP Telephone

Mar 03, 2008
  • IP telephone for Internet telephony via six VoIP accounts
  • Wideband audio for enhanced speech quality
  • Bluetooth interface
  • State-of-the-art switched-mode power unit substantially reduces energy consumption
Making phone calls over the Internet is becoming increasingly popular – and easy. With Voice over IP telephony – VoIP for short – speech is digitized and sent over the Internet in "packets." Customers who want to switch their communications entirely to Internet technology now benefit three ways: the new Sinus 501V from T-Home features the latest VoIP technology, supports Bluetooth headsets, and is energy efficient. T-Home is presenting this new multifunctional cordless VoIP telephone at CeBIT 2008.

The Sinus 501V IP telephone lets users call any conventional telephone number – and in turn be called from any fixed-line phone. The device enables VoIP calling and is ideal for discerning users, combining the latest technology with attractive design. It connects to the router via a network cable and uses DECT to connect to one or more handsets: users can connect multiple mobile handsets to the base. A DSL line is required to use the phone.1 Since the state-of-the-art base unit can manage up to six VoIP accounts, an individual Internet telephony profile can be assigned to each additional mobile handset. At the same time, all the users can access a joint personal address book. Incoming e-mails are also displayed with sender, date, time and subject line details. Practical features include a large illuminated 1.8-inch, 128 x 160-pixel, 65,536 (or 64K)-color display, and wideband audio technology that improves speech quality when calling other wideband users.

Another convenient feature, as an alternative to the built-in headset socket, is that the phone supports wireless Bluetooth headsets. This enables hands-free calling and makes multi-tasking much easier. Whether at home or in the office, users can perform other tasks while on the phone – like watering the flowers, emptying the dishwasher or opening the mail. In the past the phone had to be wedged between ear and shoulder – now with the latest Bluetooth headsets both hands are free during the call. This allows more freedom to move and prevents neck pains. But the Sinus 501V is easy on the environment as well as the body. Energy-efficient switched-mode power units for the base and charging cradle reduce electricity consumption by up to 60 percent. Besides being good for the environment, they reduce costs. The Sinus 501V will be available from August 1, 2008 in T-Punkt stores and from www.t-home.de through the online shop.
